Why are you going there?

I am going to Budapest for a volunteer Internship at a local human rights organization there.

Where will you be working?

The organization is called the “European Roma Rights Centre” (ERRC). They are a international public interest law organisation engaging in a range of activities aimed at combating anti-Romani racism and human rights abuse of Roma.

How long will you be there for?

I will be arriving in Budapest on November 5th after a 4 day training program in Montreal. I will be in Hungary until the end of March 2008. After that I will be doing a 2 Week Contiki-style tour of Western Europe. I will be back home in BC on April 17th.

What will you be doing there?

I will be mainly doing web site related consulting, but will also be helping out as much as I can with other duties such as graphic design, desktop publishing, etc.

Why are you going?

The internship will provide me with important experience related to my career objectives; communications and political science. It also will allow me to travel through Europe and live in Hungary, all expenses paid, which I normally could not afford.

Are you home sick?

Through the magic of my Internet connection both at home and at work and low-cost Long Distance phone calls, I haven’t suffered significant home sickness as of yet.
